# MessageBoxIcon enumeration

The icon shown next to the text of a message box, indicating how serious the message is.

```csharp
public enum MessageBoxIcon
```

## Values

| name | value | description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| None | `0` | No icon. The message box shows text only. |
| Error | `16` | An error icon, for an operation that has failed. |
| Hand | `16` | The same icon as Error, under its Windows Forms name. |
| Stop | `16` | The same icon as Error, under its Windows Forms name. |
| Question | `32` | A question mark icon, for a question the user is being asked. |
| Warning | `48` | A warning icon, for a situation that needs attention but is not yet a failure. |
| Exclamation | `48` | The same icon as Warning, under its Windows Forms name. |
| Information | `64` | An information icon, for a message that merely informs the user. |
| Asterisk | `64` | The same icon as Information, under its Windows Forms name. |

## Remarks

Several names share the same value and therefore the same icon: Error, Hand and Stop; Warning and Exclamation; Information and Asterisk. The duplicates exist so that code ported from Windows Forms keeps compiling.
